If everyone's sitting down I'd like to take a minute to discuss something that isn't lipstick. Don't worry, I'm okay. It turns out I actually do like leaving the house sometimes and spending money on other things. Two weeks ago, a friend and I decided to spontaneously book a trip to the Big Apple. That's what you do when you have a weekend free from work, right?
This was my second jaunt to the city that never sleeps, so I was looking forward to exploring and potentially running into someone like Chris Hemsworth and getting him to fall in love with me. Wait, what? Anyways, I thought I'd give you the low down on some of my must-sees, because it can be slightly overwhelming if you haven't got a clue where to start.
Top of the Rock - It's essential that you hit up at least one tourist hot spot, and the views from the 70th floor of the Rockefeller Center are like no other. From this standpoint, you can actually appreciate the Empire State Building in all it's glory, and the photo opportunities are sure to rack up the Instagram likes.
SoHo - New York is full of unique and buzzing boroughs. However, you'd need to take an extremely extended visit in order to visit them all. SoHo is slightly more relaxed than Midtown Manhattan, and it's a prime shopping and dining territory (my two favourite things). Even if you're on a restricted budget, you could spend a full day merely walking around browsing the various galleries, coffee shops, and markets.
Beauty & Essex - Let's talk food. No, not the 50 piece Chicken McNugget meal we shamefully had for dinner one night. Real food. Beauty & Essex is by far the best restaurant I've been to in my 21 years of existence. Not only for the grub and superb cocktails, but for the overall atmosphere and vibe throughout the place. After entering through a vintage pawn shop (it's cool, trust me), you are submerged into what feels like an old Hollywood movie. I can not recommend this place enough, plus there's a beautiful man in a suit patrolling the area. You're welcome.
My Instagram feed is home to a few other highlights of our weekend away. I will never get bored of New York City. I'm thinking of asking it to marry me. You're all invited to the wedding. Anything you've been dying to do in NYC? Let me know.
